I have figured that many people, even among the learned have bad phone/texting etiquette. It's unfortunate we never get this taught this.

I summarize a 11 rules below

A thread
2/12

Never text work stuff after office hours. Everyone deserves a break from work. Receiving a text about work at night is annoying.

Relax, nothing is as urgent as it seems. Morning will surely come
3/12

Be courteous, always start with a greeting when you initiate a convo, especially when asking for something

"Hi Phill, may you....." is always better than diving in with, "May you"
4/12

When you want to call someone on WA, send a message first and give a heads up. Random WA calls are inconvenient, worse video calls
5/12

When initiating a chat, state your reason for texting on the first message. You can't just say "hi" and expect a response
Even when checking on someone, say it.

"Hi Phill, just checking on you. Hope you are keeping well"
6/12

Normalise texting in full. Not only do people appreciate it, it's also good for your English
7/12

Never text married people at night or early morning.

You may save yourself from a bashing
8/12

Never rush people to respond to your texts by saying, "urgent".

If it is urgent the recipient will know, no need for unnecessary pressure
9/12

2 missed calls are enough.

If 2 calls haven't been answered it's unlikely the 3rd, 4th, 5th....9th will be answered.

8 missed calls is just disrespect
10/12

When asking for something even from a subordinate normalise using, 'may you' 'kindly' 'would you'
11/12

Never call in response to a text. If they texted it means they probably don't want to talk about it over the phone. If you're to call, ask first
