Ozil. Microcosm of Wenger really, great start, followed by a plateau then a poor & sad finish.
When he signed we were all stoked. He was a WC creator & he showed it early on.
2015/16 the club messed up, only signing a keeper in the Summer & Elneny in Jan. Best chance of a title >
for that squad, passed up inexplicably. Ozil & Alexis let down by Wenger & board.
The contracts for Alexis & Ozil running out at same time was horrendous planning.
Alexis wanted glory so left, Ozil was made an offer he couldn't refuse.
Wenger cosseted Ozil, adding to his own >
downfall, eventually being sacked after allowing mediocrity to creep in & become the norm.
Ozil lost form & struggled to produce what 3 new managers asked of him, as the old #10 role became redundant in the modern game.
Relationships plummeted as an SM battle commenced, between >
Ozil/his PR team, against the club, whilst his cult flew the banner at ground level, versus fans who wanted him gone.
Only question was whether he'd sit it out or go this month. Thankfully, he has gone.
A real case of what could have been, not only on Ozil, but he hasn't helped >
himself at all.
A player that really split opinion and that's not where it should have ended after 7.5 years.
Contributed to some great results, contributed to some poor results.
Personally I won't miss the post 2018 player or the cult he inspired.

The fans & Arsenal move on.
