6/7. Since a Senate conviction of Trump would help Republicans politically, Democrats working for it are doing so out of principle: the protection of democracy and the rule of law against authoritarianism and mob rule.
7/7. In the impeachment trial, Republicans in the Senate will be handed a chance to save their party and to do the right thing. Will they blow it anyway?
