A plea to all domestic abuse survivors and their allies alarmed at the proposed inclusion of parental alienation in the Domestic Abuse Bill.

Please explain to Sonia how the misuse of parental alienation allegations has forced you to co-parent with an abuser, or even lose your child completely to an abuser.
She must hear the truth from mothers wrongly cast as abusive alienators for trying to protect their children.

@SoniaPoulton I have been on Twitter since February 2020, researching and gathering information about parental alienation and domestic and child abuse. I had an open mind as I am not so naïve as to believe that no mother would try to alienate a father from his children.
One by one, I was approached by “alienated” fathers, the most persistent of whom were core members of Jan James’ Parental Alienation UK. I engaged at length with their arguments and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for as long as possible.
With only two exceptions, it quickly became apparent that these so-called “alienated” fathers were restricted or banned from seeing their children because of serious “false allegations”, which, given their behaviour towards me and other women on Twitter, did not sound false.
These “false allegations” included rape, non fatal strangulation and attempted murder. Jan James took these men at face value, preferring to believe their self portrayals as heroic and tragic victims of injustice rather than consider that they are highly dangerous individuals.
In December 2019 parental alienation campaigner Stephen Best was found guilty of raping and abusing two women over many years. In January 2020 he received a six year prison sentence. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/local/fife/1115583/man-jailed-for-years-of-abuse-against-women-in-tayside-and-fife/
Despite his arrest in April 2018, Jan James of Parental Alienation UK offered Stephen Best her unswerving support, assuring him: “Hope you’re taking notice Stephen. You’re one of a kind.”
Seven months after Stephen Best’s conviction for raping and abusing two women, Jan James displayed utter contempt for Best’s victims by retweeting a mawkish and manipulative rap video promoting Best’s “Dear Sophie” campaign, in which an “alienated” father kills himself.
In the video, rapper Britizen Kane voices the suicidal thoughts of this “alienated father” whose daughter has believed the “stupid lies” of her mum, who “told me how he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her down the stairs”.
I have received credible evidence that several of Jan James’ most ardent male supporters, some of whom have done work on her campaign, are very dangerous men. And their behaviour on Twitter backs up my fears. Yet Jan is entirely unrepentant.
In your podcast, Jan James assures you that she takes child safety extremely seriously. I cannot emphasise strongly enough that parental alienation is overwhelmingly used as a counter allegation by abusive and controlling men to exert post separation abuse of women and children.
I have also gathered substantial evidence that several of the most vocal proponents of parental alienation ideology, who work as witnesses in Family Court, are stridently anti-feminist opponents of what they like to call “the domestic violence industry”.
Nobody says that women never lie, that women are never cruel or manipulative or narcissistic. But reputable research worldwide shows that domestic and child abuse are huge problems and allegations are very rarely made maliciously.
A core strategy of parental alienation campaigners is to bring on board vulnerable women whose children have been abducted by abusive fathers or who have lost their children in court to abusive men. Jan James repeats ad nauseam that “parental alienation is gender neutral”.
I am not “throwing mothers under the bus”, as Jan claims, when I insist that parental alienation is not gender neutral. Both mothers and fathers can be maliciously ousted from their children’s lives, and such behaviour is, as Jan says, a kind of post separation coercive control.
However, having researched this topic for three years, and engaged with “alienated” fathers for nearly a year on Twitter, I am confident that parental alienation is used overwhelmingly by manipulative, abusive men to reframe themselves as victims and their victims as abusers.
