i love this thread! for me worldbuilding involves creating the minutiae & building upwards to the things that might show up in the story so that my framework is internally consistent, but the minutiae is more or less for my own amusement as well -- it's not supposed to show up! https://twitter.com/ellle_em/status/1353357661862043648
i create languages, which means i have to create the culture behind that language. the culture behind it is the difference between having fifty separate terms for things to do with one kind of draft animal versus never having domesticated that animal. that affects vocab.
and vocab pertains to clothing too, right? so i also have to make a unique but believable style for the time period that the story is taking place in, but i also have to be aware that styles constantly change and evolve, whether due to time or outside influence.
