On Fox, Romney says for "the last year or so," Trump has been trying "to corrupt the election." He says this includes "the conduct in Ukraine," "the call to... Raffensperger," and "the incitation to insurrection.” He calls this "an attack on the very foundation of our democracy."

Romney endorses "the preponderance" of opinion that "an impeachment trial is appropriate after someone leaves office."

Trump’s conduct "calls for a trial," he says. "If we’re going to have unity ... it’s important to recognize the need for accountability, for truth and justice."

On CNN, Romney says Trump's "effort to incite insurrection" on Jan. 6 "continues a pattern that the president had of trying to corrupt the election by his communication with Ukraine, and in his call with Raffensperger, "trying to get him to falsify the results of the election."
