Here is a long thread then I’ve been thinking about for a long time now and I figure there’s no better time than Sanctity of life Sunday to share my thoughts. Buckle up. 1.
I’m seeing a lot of Christians post about fighting abortion in the context of going against the Democratic Party for perpetuating abortion in this country and around the world. I have no problem with this. Most Dem politicians want to expand abortio, 2.
And they must be held accountable for that. However, most Christians stop here and I fear that this is a grave mistake. We have two major political parties in this country that control all state governments and our federal government. One of them is pro abortion. 3.
The other political party is pro life in name only. They say that they are prolife to get your vote, but once they are in power they do absolutely nothing. Wait, I take it back. They do something but it’s not what you think. 4.
They support and pass laws that end up being detrimental to expecting mothers who have unexpected pregnancies which inevitably cause some of them to seek out abortions, then they blame the other party for allowing abortions to happen at all. 5.
This is evil! And it is just as wrong as wanting abortion expanded. If you’re going to be against one party for being supportive of abortion, then you have to be against the other party that at the very least is apathetic to abortion and at the most contributes to it. 6.
We need to hold our politicians, political parties, and ourselves to a consistent holistic pro life ethic in order for the atrocity of abortion to be eradicated from our country. Until we do that, these half-baked approaches will only increase it. 7.
