The fundamental attraction of #ZeroCovid for many people is, I believe, that it presents an exit strategy from #COVID19Ireland
The problem which the government doesn’t seem to accept that it has at the moment is that so far, it has not presented the public with any exit strategy that’s sustained any examination at all
Sure, maybe #ZeroCovid might be impractical. But it is giving a lot of very frustrated and tired people - such as myself - some kind of hope precisely because it is presenting some light at the end of the tunnel
without even digging too deeply, you can find all kinds of inconsistent messaging from the government regarding any kind of exit strategy only in the last few weeks
One Minister said not everyone would be vaccinated in 2021. That was later walked back. Then another Minister said every 'citizen' who wanted the vaccine would have it by September
Then the schools were going to re-open after one extra week of being shut. Then it was the rest of the month. And yesterday the Taoiseach casually mentioned that not every schoolchild would be back in school before mid-March. This is an intolerable communications strategy
