I would do each day’s work in about 3.5-4 hours, all task focused. get it done. go to the barn and do more shit. don’t dawdle, don’t obfuscate
if you have a problem, solve it, or you’re wasting your own time
this had drawbacks — not being “taught” anything ends up being bad once you get into more advanced technical stuff in high school (but how advanced is it, really, in high school?)
but you also become curious, independent, a little stubborn about gratuitous and unjustified use of your energies and/or attention
