reading so many inspiring stories from PCNs and GPs across the country who have established excellent covid vaccine giving systems. Should make concerted effort to share key learning to help build confidence and capability across country? @RuthTapsell @DrSimonHodes @NikkiKF 1/9
The twitter challenge - share your Top 5 enablers or tips and 5 asks of the system you think would help @DocRunner1 @JennieJoyce6 @jezmccole @SimonBradley8 @DrHannahMorgan @Andy_Drew_Moore 2/9
Here goes - Top tops , 1) Have a small steering team -managers & clinicians- respond rapidly to changes, but involve all practices with planning & staff to deliver (admin, manager and clinical), ownership and shared purpose is key 3/9
2) Ask for help. Local council supplied road and carpark management and set up marquee space for waiting/observation. It really helped. 4/9
3) Partner with local voluntary sector/patient groups. creating a welcoming site, suppprting site safety and flow. But crucially involving community in shared purpose and building the legacy of co-production...we’ll need it +++ as we rebuild 5/9
4) @accuRx #accubook system has been fantastic, allowed us to organise appointments and patient flow, use text messaging at scale, and highlight manual invites. Allowed us to respond rapidly to changes in delivery schedules 6/9
5) AZ vaccine much easier to organise than Pfizer. Organise delivery of Pfizer from PCN Hubs and AZ (and similar) from individual practices - just like flu. 7/9
And the asks - 1) Give us more autonomy over local delivery - eg let us do no 5 above. 2) Maintain regular supply- allowing us to plan and invite by letter 3) Short summary SOPs - focusing on key points , rather than 30 page directives 8/9
4) Help us target those least likely to come, and prioritise those we know are highest risk in our practices
5)Less outsourcing to mass solution providers and support local practices to deliver quickly and safely. Let’s share and see what resources it reveals 9/9
