You know what, let's watch some Lakers/Bulls
Lakers are pretty smart on defense. LaVine comes off a double P&R. LeBron stays with his, Gafford slips but Gasol sees the play developing and stays with his. Nowhere to go. Second screen LaVine sees Gasol in a drop, KCP trying to recover and bounces right to his stepback. Tough.
LaVine comes off the handoff here and you've got Gasol in a drop, LeBron on the backline and driving right into AD giving nail help. Gets a deflection. On the second screen, Gasol comes up to the level, Gafford slips out, great rotation by Schroder to be there on the catch.
Ability to space Gasol opens some things for the Lakers on AD's post ups. Notice there is no baseline help. Williams is right at the nail, AD able to spin to the baseline and finish.
When AD posts here you see Gasol starts spaced and as LaVine shows baseline help dives. Can get a screen-in on KCP. Big thing is LeBron being one pass away. Williams helps on the spin, as soon as he does LeBron cuts backdoor.
The timing of the cuts from the Lakers are key. KCP is one pass away on this AD post up. LaVine is in great help position but watch the patience from AD. As soon as KCP cuts and LaVine clears, he attacks middle.
It's the team defense from the Lakers that seems to be building. White comes off the P&R, Gasol contains the drive, LeBron/AD on weakside show help but then recover. Watch AD kick Gasol out of the matchup to take the ball and contest the shot. Defense creates O for LA.
AD gets hung up on this DHO, Gasol takes the cutter and AD switches on to the ball. Great deny by KCP vs. LaVine. LeBron and AD switch the next screen. Those type of plays go beyond the scheme. Great attack by Williams just has to finish this one.
It's the patience, reading defense, changing speeds from LaVine for me. Comes off, sees the drop, takes a look at Markkanen popping and then hits the turbo button to finish.
LaVine has made steps passing and reading defenses, has to be careful not to turn that into predetermining his plays. The jump pass is great until teams put it in the scouting report. Tries to hit Markkanen quick, LeBron jumps it, gets a deflection and again D turns into O for LA
Noticing a little more activity from Harrell defensively. Doing his job. AD gets caught on the handoff, Harrell switches and contests. Nice second effort play from Williams here. THT reaches at the nail and relaxes, Williams sees it and crashes.
Markkanen playing with a lot more confidence, you can see it here. Gets it trailing, goes to the DHO. LaVine fakes backdoor and looks to come back off but by the time Markkanen attacked and hit the spin move to finish.
The hesitation and go from LaVine has been working well and he makes this play. Harrell is at the level, drops to contain well but LaVine’s attack forces AD to hold on the roll. Opens up the skip to Markkanen and now it’s drive and kick vs. rotation.
I like the aggression from Williams on his drives. Pushes it in transition, nice move to draw the foul.
Great defensive play from Caruso here. LaVine pushes in transition, Thad tries to flip the screen, Caruso reads it and slides in for the charge. LaVine just has to avoid getting too sped up at times.
