Quantitative biologists, especially but not only biomechanists doing simulations: what are your favorite papers on the concept of "validation" of models and simulations? (not specific good examples of the practice, but general philosophy of it)
e.g. obvious one for me: Hicks, J. L., Uchida, T. K., Seth, A., Rajagopal, A., & Delp, S. L. (2015). Is my model good enough? Best practices for verification and validation of musculoskeletal models and simulations of movement. Journal of biomechanical engineering, 137(2).
Different take: Oreskes, N., Shrader-Frechette, K., & Belitz, K. (1994). Verification, validation, and confirmation of numerical models in the earth sciences. Science, 263(5147), 641-646.
