I don’t like that tweet despite the intentions. Nigerian international students are usually able to fend for themselves and are ok financially.

They prove this to get visas.

I don’t want anyone to paint a picture of us as refugees needing saving.
You can help international students without using the rare case of a stranded Nigerian student to lead the thread.

You’ll unintentionally make it more difficult for others to get visas cos the immigration services will start requiring more proof of finances.
And again, the previous immigration ban did not affect international students. So there’s no expected influx of Nigerians that can’t afford a jacket or a phone.
Good intentions, good thread as a whole. But please don’t give us that image.
