Why your coffee is always wrong at Dunkin, a thread from a 3 year employee
I’ll start this by saying out of the dozens of employees I worked with, I was one of TWO that cared how the coffee was made. I always tried to make it worth the money you paid. Unless you were a regular they liked, basically everyone didn’t care about what they gave you.
Cream- The cream dispenser has to be reset every time you fill it, otherwise it puts out too much/too little. If the person that filled it didn’t reset it, it won’t get fixed until the next person fills it. This messes up the next 50-100 coffees.
Sugar- When the sugar dispenser is low, it puts out way less sugar than it should. However, employees can still *see* sugar coming out. When it’s busy they usually just say it’s good enough and won’t refill until it’s completely empty.
Flavors- All of the flavors come out of bottles with pumps. A lot of the time, the pump doesn’t work right and puts out way too little. Employees put the amount of pumps you asked for and think “well I put in x amount of pumps so it’s good.”
Also, when the bottle is close to empty, it puts out too little anyways. But the employees try to milk it until it’s completely gone, which means a good amount of orders get messed up.
Almond milk is literally always free poured so how much you get is completely dependent on the employee.
Ice for an iced coffee is supposed to fill 3/4 of the cup, but people just put in however much they could get in one scoop. If they got too little, the flavor is weaker Bc more coffee dilutes the sugar/cream, if they got too much the flavor is stronger.
Stirring- All depends on how the person feels while making that coffee. Sometimes they’ll stir it for .25 seconds, others 5. This makes all the sugar and flavoring sit at the bottom.
I will defend the place for a moment- if you get mocha, no amount of stirring will get it off the side of the cup. Yes I stirred it. Do not ask me to stir it again because it will look the same.
That’s about all I got for now. If you have any questions for me let me know!
