As your waiting for students to join the class, have a holding screen up being presented. Set up the same graphics that represent no cameras/microphones/chatting...
Use a sound timer... ie a piece of music with the time left shown/visible. Reduce the volume as it gets near the end. We have to remember like a classroom we may have to gather our students attention before we speak...
When doing the “register” tell the students to rush off around the noise and find a household item that matches the starting letter of their name!
Quick fire questions.
Ask a question- then tell students to type their answer but NOT to press enter. When you say all students have to press enter. The first one to get “through” wins!
Give students the chance to “teach” parts of the lesson by sharing their screen and explanations.
Set up a Google Slides PowerPoint. Name each child on each slide.
Set a writing task.
Click slide sorter.
And watch live and interact with responses in real time.
Thanks @teacherhead for this tip- loads in his blog here- https://twitter.com/teacherhead/status/1348188209726054403?s=20
Using Google Forms- there’s a lock tab feature now to prevent students Googling their answers. Try it- https://support.google.com/docs/answer/7634943?hl=en-GB
When uploading your PowerPoint- don’t click Make a Copy for each student.
Then ask students to open your uploaded version and share the screen to show who has clicked on it!
Try Mote for recorded feedback! Integrated and free!
