WHY I SHIP JEARMIN : A THREAD FOR YOU ALL BECAUSE IM LEGT FIGHTING A ONE MAN WAR HERE
first, we need to understand the two characters and why they are compatible w one another. ill start with armin.
armin, from the beginning of season 1 and onwards has always viewed himself as reliant towards his friends. he often has flashbacks to eren + mikasa protecting him

& he views himself as "weak" compared to them. in my opinion, what armin needs is someone who can trust him in his abilities. someone who he can feel like he doesnt have to own up to. someone that for once, makes him feel like hes the one protecting THEM ..not the other way round
also one last note but armin is quite good at reading people. he has his own standards of evaluating whether a person is "good" or "bad" (ex: annie situation) and although its never mentioned, i think he truly sees that jean is a good person.
jean may be a jackass but he cares a lot for his comrades and it wouldn't be armin if armin hadn't notice this in jean throughout the series.
ok now lets talk about jean. jean is important in the way that he honestly seems the most human to me compared to all the other scouts. marco noticed this in season one -- where he told jean that "jean was strong because he understood the weak."
let me emphasize this line. marco told jean that he "made a good leader because he understood the weak .. he was "one of them" and this made him sympathetic." this is important because this brings jean even closer to armin.
it is pretty obvious that armin feels like an outlier to his closest friends, eren & mikasa. he often questions how they can be so "brave" -- without thinking twice to put their life for others. he often wonders why hes the only one scared shitless & why he has to rely on them
both armin and jean have this re-occuring theme of being "weak" and both of them are also driven by it. jean's weakness = makes him a good leader while armin's bitter feeling to being perceived as weak drives his motivation to fight.
i think what jean needs is someone whos like marco. jean needs someone who recognizes this "weakness" and humanity in him -- someone who trusts and supports him. this is where armin plays in.
if u really think about it, marco & armin are a bit similar in the way they have this "soft, comfort" aura around them and the way they're both good at reading people and situations. this is really why jean and armin got along so well.. or maybe im reaching here a bit lawl
ok lemme wrap this all up ... if ure still here u are a real one..

what jean needs --> someone that can guide him, someone who can trust him, etc

now through the series, both armin & jean has proven that they fit each other's "ideal" person. for example, with armin, armin has protected jean on occasions & offered him guidance. jean, to armin, is someone he doesnt feel inferior to. jean, to armin, is someone he can help
not once with jean did armin think "hes always saving me .. i feel inferior.. i feel weak." armin and jean stand level to level in the way they both have trust and respect for one another. THIS folks... is a GOOD relationship.
with jean -- jean has always seeked guidance from armin. jean admires and respects armin, and believes in armin's abilities when armin didn't believe in himself.
you can definitely argue that these cases can apply to eren with armin and etc etc but combined with the way both jean and armin feels "weak" and how theyre more "human" compared to their peers, i really think they make out one of the best and most compatible relationships in aot
there is a mutual trust and respect for both parties involved. jean admires armin the way armin trusts jean. maybe im still reading too much into this but what freaking ever im gonna defend gay rights and that means defending jearmin.. okay checkmate liberals thanks for reading
