Kerala Blasters Vs FC Goa Review Thread ( Blasters POV) #YennumYellow #ISL
Blasters lined up with same formation of 4-2-2-2. Kibu has settled on this. This is what a preseason would have given him. But that is same for almost all managers except managers like Lobera and habbas. Hooper played SS and Rahul played as ST. Facundo on RW and Sahal on LW. 1/14
Costa's injury vs BFC means Kone is back in as the CB. You all know what is my opinion regarding Kone as a CB. I think Kibu also sensed the danger. We didn't play our usual highline to accommodate Kone. Also it seemed the instruction to Kone was to be less adventurous and defend
In the first half Ortiz had a field day against Meitei. Usually he gets protection from Costa. But as you know who is playing there, its very difficult. We somehow rode the wave. Jeakson as CB continue to impress me. He looked like he has played that position for years. 3/14
Our pressing game was nowhere near good enough without Murray. And it seemed Sahal and Facundo is happy to tuck in the first half. I felt both were afraid to commit as they know they are weak in defense. Sahal was more of a left wing back this game than a left sided forward. 4/14
Sandeep played as RB for the second game in a row. And what a performance. I still prefer him as CB. As he is delivery as RB is not really good. IF he wants to play as RB then he has to improve on his crosses. But the work rate and the passion he shows. Really good. 5/14
The goal we conceded, its high time Sahal is taken off the wall duty. This is the second goal we concedes bcoz of Sahal in the wall. Put him upfront when defending set pieces or put him on either post. Just get him off the wall. #YennumYellow #ISL 6/14
Sometimes in football luck has to go your way also. Deflection goal with not so good defense against Goa. Then a goal ruled out at the other end (Devil's hand probably, rightly so). Then it culminates in the sending off Garrido. I thought it wasn't a yellow. #YennumYellow 7/14
Then the ref yesterday was very trigger happy. We our self got yellow for Rahul, Jeakson and even Kibu. All will miss next match. So wasn't really surprised when he was send off for putting his hands on Ref. You cannot do that. That's the rule. Harsh yes. But rule is rule. 8/14
Rahul as ST is a problem. I don't think he can play as Sole ST. As he lacks the skills to hold the ball up. Also lacks the height to compete aerially (Not from a set piece). Lot of our moves broke down when Rahul should have hold the ball up. #YennumYellow #ISL 9/14
Might have been better to play Hooper as ST and Facundo as 10 or Rahul as SS. Then also Hooper is more concerned about playing passes than shooting. 3 chances he got yesterday and I assure you if it was Murray all 3 would be shoot. And one might be a Goal. 10/14
I have seen some say the last one was passed for a cut back. Maybe. But why overcomplicate things. GK is off his line. Just shoot. Also seen Rahul should have anticipated that Pass. Rahul was thinking he will shoot. Rahul is wired to think like that bcoz he would have shot it.
Our goal, seen some say Facundo is below average. He has 2.8 key passes per game only one has bettered that in ISL this year. I would say he is the best set piece taker in ISL. Which is essential for Kibu' s system. And the leap of Rahul, that was worked on training pitch. 12/14
There was lot of disappointment and overreaction after yesterday's draw. Maybe bcoz Goa were 10 men. And Hooper could have won it. But I was happy to take a draw before the game is played. So cant complain. #YennumYellow #ISL 13/14
My expectation for this season was 6th and we are on course to do that. As I said in the previous thread. Dont think about Playoffs and all. One game at a time. Also has to consider that we are playing every 2.5 days. Goa was playing yesterday game after almost a week rest. 14/14
