When was the last time there was so much outrage at the regular portrayals of 'Pathan' Urdu accent and when they are made as caricatures and clowns for their skills at Urdu? The patriotic industry is doing best what it always does: make anything to sell Pakistaniat certificates.

You can see a hundred episodes of Pashtuns being made fun of on primetime television but that's innocuous to you and here you are in 'Team Urdu', and totally erasing that you have to be in 'Team Workers dignity and basic rights'. It's not a language debate at all.

He was made fun of and humiliated because he didn't have power, and not being 'good at English' was the tool. This is something which Pashtuns and other ethnic minorities daily face with the difference that the instrument of oppression and humiliation then is Urdu.

Critique the power structure. The solution lies in protecting basic human rights, workers' rights and workers right to unionize and security. Making it about 'discourse' is erasing the material circumstances that that attitude and 'discourse' arise from.
