Coming from me, a Python enthusiast who have some experience using Python in IoT and Big Data.

I would suggest to stick with Windows.
You cant get Windows to work reliably on Raspberry Pi. It doesn't work that way.

You don't expect RP to work like Windows. Because it can't. https://twitter.com/partimuda/status/1352982909750108160
Windows based PC could offer so much it if you want to use it for programming.

You just have to include the right software in it. I believe everyone can code if they are given the chance to learn, and given a RIGHT tool.

And that cant be offered on a Raspberry Pi system.
Don't simply come out with unreliable cheap ass solution.

Ask away to those who are experienced in this stuff.

I personally use Windows to code.
I use Python at work on Windows before.
Even schools today teaches how to use Python on Windows computers.
And it's unreliable for a long term.

If you really want to go that low, you can opt for refurbished business laptops instead.

There are a lot of Lenovo ThinkPad series, HP ProBook series, Dell Business series laptops selling for dirt cheap on the market today.
Plus the specs are more than enough already for students' use.

Most of these laptops runs on at least i3 with 4GB RAM, and sold for less than a thousand if you're looking at the right market.
These laptops are more reliable and heavy duty too, as business laptops are well built for use and abuse.

For instance, older ThinkPads have drain holes under the laptops, so when you spill something on the keyboard, the water will drain away.
Not to mention parts for these kind of laptops, there are A LOT of them sold at a reasonably cheap price!

If there is a need to repair, parts are always available. If you go to Shopee and search for ThinkPad parts, you can find every single part you need to fix the laptop!
Mainly because businesses use these kind of laptops until today.

Because these laptops are really reliable, even for long term use.

But again, did none of y'all ever thought about it? Have y'all done market research for these stuff.
There are good and better laptop options out there, and of course new is always better.

But it doesn't mean that these cheaper yet better option is not good. And I dare to say these options are way better than Raspberry Pi itself.
I hope y'all can take a moment to read this thread and put it into considerations @partimuda because I believe in your effort to make better changes, and I support that.

Yes I understand that cost is an issue. But there are options out there rather than opting to Raspberry Pi.
That's all from me 🙂
