A bit of cricket history in Central West NSW today - my little home town of Bogan Gate (pop. 200) has beaten Parkes to claim the Grinsted Cup for the first time since 1936!! 🏆🏏

But that's only half the story, so stick with me here...
Bogan Gate hasn't played cricket for more than 30 years. I played games as a 14yo in its final season back in the late 80s, and guys played for clubs in Parkes or Forbes since.

Bogan Gate hadn't played Grinsted Cup since beating Forbes in 1936.

(My distant uncle back left)
Parkes, defending the Grinsted Cup for the 14th time, were bowled out for 80 - Bogan Gate won by 6wkts, though there was a hat trick in the run chase!

Now, they have to defend the Cup v Grenfell in 2wks - and there's a story here too... https://www.parkeschampionpost.com.au/story/7092706/bogan-gate-to-take-on-parkes-in-history-making-clash/
Back in 1936, Grenfell very nearly missed the game because of a breakdown en route - and had to organise lifts from whoever they could wrangle.

Now it's all on again, all because some Bogan Gate boys decided to resurrect the old black caps... 🏆🏏
