Margaret Murray Washington, once principal of @TuskegeeUniv, was so advanced that she was offered a teaching position at 14 y.o. She took care of the school, while her husband toured, and wrote his speeches.

Her husband's name? Booker T. Washington.
At the age of nineteen, she went to Fisk University to further her studies. This is where she met Washington and where he asked her to be principal of Tuskegee.

This position was formerly held by his second wife...Olivia A. Davidson. Olivia started teaching at sixteen...
But back to Margaret...Here are letters from Booker T. Washington to Margaret about her position at Tuskegee.

Annnnd some things don't change.
Sigh. It's evident that Margaret knew what girls/women were capable of & was prob all the way good.🙃

Here are her thoughts, in 1911.

"Very few colored women of education have to look for work. Work looks for them."
Margaret also co-founded the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs. The other founders included: Harriet Tubman, Frances E. W. Harper, Ida B. Wells, and Mary Church Terrell.
