Ajay Singh had launched guerilla warfare campaign against Delhi Sultanate.

That time Ala-ud-din khilji had given administration of Mewar to Maldeo, a Rajput clan leader.

When Maldeo sent marriage proposal for his daughter to Hammir Singh, later accepted it.
He then took control of Mewar and started attacking nearby territories with help of his supporters.

When Muhammad bin Tughlak, second ruler of Tughlak dynasty was looking to conquer Rajputana kings.
He had taken Ajmer, Ranthambhore, Nagor and Shivpuri.

But he underestimated Power of Hammir Singh and attacked Mewar at battle of Singoli in 1336 AD.

The Tughlaq were badly massacred and Muhammad was taken captive.
It was Dharma of Rajputana that he was not executed.

Tughlaq paid 50 lakh tankas to take back their ruler.

They had to leave Control of the States they had taken.

The defeat was such huge that Tughlaq left the idea of attacking Mewar again.
