On Unity: A thread

There are a lot of folks who were harmed these past four years, wounded by the former president's words and policies and action and inaction.

And harmed by those who served him and his dreadful, wretched, catastrophically immoral administration.

1/
And now we see many of those same people clamoring for a unity that demands we forget the past, the harm perpetrated upon us or our neighbors, that we minimize the suffering and pretend it "wasn't that bad."

That is not unity.

2/
Unity does not mean we forget the past, the harm caused, and those who caused it.

Unity never asks for silence.

3/
Unity demands we speak up and testify to the pain so we can tend the wounds and the wounded and create a path towards accountability, responsibility, mutual respect, wholeness, and healing.

4/
Unity-genuine unity-is an act of honest, bravery, and hope-because it demands we tell the truth.

We will never be able to tend to the wounds unless we name them.

Shavuah Tov, Beloveds.
