Let's pull this apart, shall we? This is the book seen in a local health food store in #yyc
In it, the authors (one of whom has an MD - more on that later) state that #covid19 is the result of NOT a virus, but 5G wireless! "On September 26, 2019, 5G wireless was turned on in Wuhan.... Illness has subsequently followed 5G installation in all the major cities in America."
This fallacy is "correlation is not causation." You can draw a ton of false correlations. Autism correlates with organic food sales. The number of pirates is correlated with global temperatures. And, my favourite, penises are larger in poor countries. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/kjh2110/the-10-most-bizarre-correlations
The point is that just because two things happen at the same time, does not mean that one causes the other.
But this is what concerns me: the blurb goes on: "It was Louis Pasteur ... in his private diaries ... states unequivocally that in his entire career he was not once able to transfer disease with a pure culture of bacteria.”
I think I know who would have issue with that: Barry Marshall, an Australian physician, who *gave* himself an ulcer by *drinking a flask of Helicobacter pylori,* to prove that the bacterium causes ulcers. He won the Nobel Prize for it.
This was to prove Koch's postulates, which is how to prove an infectious agent causes a disease. In short: the bug is there, it can be isolated and grown, the disease is caused when you drink it, and you can recover the bug again. (luv these bacteria movies, I used to make them.)
Anyone who's been to med school would have learned Koch's postulates. They would have learned correlation doesn't equal causation. Most importantly, they would have sworn to do no harm. Misinformation=harm. ESPECIALLY around #covid19. (wikimedia commons)
I didn't make a lot of money in my years doing vaccine research. I bet there's more money in books that spread fear and misinformation about a deadly pandemic.
