It’s easy to blame the severity of the pandemic in the US on frat parties and family get-togethers but what’s really driving the spread is businesses: forcing employees back to work and luring consumers out to public areas rather than shutting down until it’s safe. It’s capital.
The government has blood on its hands because it would take the state to close down these businesses; businesses have no conscience so they’ll do whatever is profitable. But they’re the real issue here.
“It’s both!” Yes, obviously, but for every house party with twenty people there’s 1,000 employees going to work to feed, clothe, and service 1,000 customers in public locations. The point is that it’s the business activity that constitutes the vast bulk of the spread.
