Noticed something I hadn’t noticed before. 9/10 times this is an ACL tear. Foot plants, knee sent rapidly into hyperextension, & femur shifts posteriorly on top of tibia (with small rotation) = the ACL tears.

Watch his foot. He rolls his ankle (inversion roll).
Right after his ankle rolls inwards, you can see his Left knee almost stop translating into hyperextension.

The more I look at this, I believe this is what prevented his left knee from reaching that last stage mechanism of HE+femur shift, thus preventing the ACL tear.
I’d be willing to bet that without that ankle inversion mechanism, his foot remains planted as he falls forward & snaps his ACL. Can only imagine how close he actually was to tissue failure.
Here’s a Right knee where you can see the ACL tear.
Still, leading theories on how his ACL didn’t tear:

1. Ankle inversion prevented enough femur translation to prevent the last bit of mechanism to tear the ACL

2. Helps that he was falling laterally, not directly forward, after being pushed by the DB. Prevents fwd wt translation
3. His Hamstrings are so dang strong they held the tibia in place as his knee was sent into hyperextension.

Either way, I think he got very lucky to escape an ACL tear. The ankle roll helped a ton, I believe.
