Here's a fun story about timing and perseverance for the five of you who will actually see this. A few years ago when I was working at MTV a singer came in with a pitch for a show. She wasn't well-known at the time but she was full of that "star quality" thing.
Those of us who were in the room knew she was special and tried to convince the higher-ups that we needed to develop a show with her. The response was that she wasn't famous enough. We passed.
About a year later that same singer did this and brought down the damn house at the VMAs.
To sum up: Don't let your dreams die with a no. Your talent is bigger than any individual moment of rejection. The people who make decisions don't always know best. And, @lizzo will always be the show that got away.
