So this was my MLA's response to a question about why FN don't have clean drinking water. It's perfect. the federal government is doing that and has been since they were elected in 2015.
Several dozen First Nations that did not have clean water before now do./2

2. There is no reason that provincial governments could not help. We called on the provincial NDP in Manitoba to help connect houses with clean water, as Ontario did, but they refused. If you want to know why water systems are so bad, /3

3. in 2005 the federal Liberals signed a multi-billion dollar agreement with First Nations, the Kelowna Accord. It was going to increase funding for children’s education and clean water. The NDP decided to vote against the government and have an election. /4

The conservatives won a minority, and immediately cancelled the Kelowna Accord and froze funding to First Nations. The Harper conservatives did have one plan for clean water on reserve. /5

5.Bruce Carson,a convicted criminal who worked for Stephen Harper in the P M’s office, quit and then started illegally lobbying the government. Carson was trying to get a $400-million water filter contract for a company owned by his girlfriend, who had been an escort. /6

6. The media found out about it and Carson was arrested, tried and found guilty.
