For anyone who’s looking for internships or just secured one (congrats ), I wanted to share a few tips that have helped me excel and get noticed. A Thread:

1. Ask questions. No (decent) person will make fun of you for not knowing things. In fact, it will make you look smarter and show that you’re invested in learning.

2. Be proactive. Ask if there’s any extra work that you can help with. People notice the ambitious and driven. You will also be exposed to different lines of business which will increase your overall knowledge. It’s also just nice to offer to help your fellow teammates.

3. Talk to people. Set up coffee chats because they can give you insight into the company and peoples’ jobs. The genuine connections you make can also open doors for you and get you a leg up on the competition if you have someone to vouch for you.

4. Understand your manager’s role. Your manager will most likely be in the next position up (or 2 positions up) that you may want to be in in the future. Learn what their day-to-day looks like so you know what you need to focus on as well as look forward to.

5. Keep a record of your daily tasks. You may not remember all that you did during your internship so it’s best to write it down as you go along. It will make your resume editing a lot smoother.
