Govt is acting 'in pursuit of a short-term political illusion': no, it is acting on the advice of the MHRA, JCVI and the UK's 4 chief medical officers.
'Not a single country anywhere else in the world is following Britain’s wrongheaded lead': the governments of Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland are following the same policy as the UK govt. Other countries are considering changing their policies too.
'Nothing on the tin says the vaccines work outside of the timeframe of the laboratory trials': the vaccines are - obviously - not being administered in laboratory conditions. Clinicians must make real-world decisions based on the evidence available.
There are legitimate debates about whether a first-dose-first policy is best. Maybe, with the benefit of hindsight, it will be judged not to be. But we don't have the luxury of time.
