I don’t think Bernie sat down to be an example of class solidarity. He *is* that, and I don’t think that’s conscious for him. It’s also great that women who are going to be in the unyielding spotlight of the international gaze are elevating designers’ and artists’ profiles.

And while it’s true that a woman with the media profile of Bernie likely could not have enjoyed the positive attention B got for his distinct lack of give-a-fuck for high fashion, it’s also ridiculous to accuse him of not performing the “right” emotion labor. Sometimes,
