What I'm expecting from the Biden/Harris administration that has restaurateurs shaking in their boots, because they know their days of exploiting restaurants workers are numbered. /1

Higher labor costs - During his campaign days for the Democratic presidential election Biden was already pledging to push through a doubling of the federal minimum wage. Indeed, @potus has already set $15/hr as the new minimum for federal workers through an executive order. /2
No more tip credit - this is HUGE! Under current federal law, full-service restaurants can pay servers as little as $2.13/hour if those individuals are collecting at least $5.12 in tips, bringing them up to the federal minimum of $15.00, and they could still keep their tips.

Employer obligations. Almost unnoticed in Biden’s policy plan is a directive that OSHA update its guidance for protecting workers.
OSHA is developing *new* safety guidelines for frontline, public workers, where they've placed restaurant workers & face masks requirements. /4

More union activity. @potus has said organized labor is crucial in realizing his goal of closing the nation’s income gap. He has acted on that by nominating Marty Walsh as U.S. secretary of labor & appointing Lauren McFadden chairman of the National Labor Relations Board. /5
Restaurants workers have confronted dangerous conditions on the job, racism in the workplace, lack of opportunities & they've died of COVID-19, even as they were championed as heroes by commercials.
