The article suggests that Trump will be working directly with states to improve our elections. Let me tell you something: no state elections official will do that. None of them.

Getting ppl who you’ve just spent months calling incompetent and threatening? When you have no authority whatsoever now? None are going to say “oh, you’ve made my life a living hell and now you’d like me to radically change my system to accommodate your conspiracies? Hell ya!”

Extremely conservative secretaries in more than one state began calling Trump “a fool” and his behavior “inexplicable” to me in private conversations since the spring. Not one is interested in his thoughts after he cost many of them thousands of dollars on baseless litigation.

This is very much like Trump ending the voter fraud commission and - without asking DHS - said DHS would be picking up the work. No one at DHS wanted to, so they said fine and then intentionally forgot about the request. Now that he can’t fire anyone, people will publicly say no.

I hosted a panel with three Republican election officials last week with @VotebeatUS. Their message was clear: our elections are not perfect (they aren’t!) but mass fraud and hacking did not and have not happened, and Trumps suggestions were largely not helpful and mostly wrong.
