Then this pt-aid (pic) ask "how'd you do in school?" Me: "college, post-bacc, or med school...I was decent - 3.something." She ask "where you from...like are you black-american?" Me: "Interesting question, I was born here (USA), you?" Her: "Boston" Me: "Parents?" Her: "Ayiti"
Me: "Mine too" We switch to Kreyol. She's surprised. Her: "Do people question you - like tell you your wrong - but you know your right?" I lean against the wall and squat. Me "All the time." Me: "Why?" Her: "I'm pre-med. Biochem major. But, I doubt myself. Think cause of others"
Her: "Like, I started thinking do I need a therapist. I graduated the top of my class (h.s). Now classmate want to question my answers we when work in grps." Me: "I had and have that experience too" Her: "and here (work), when I tell them - I'm in college - people act surprised."
Me: "what you're describing, happens often - and will keep happening, but this (medical doctor) is what you want to do?" Her: "Yes. I'm going to go to medical school." Me: "Have your cellphone?" Her: "Yes" Me: "Let's take a pic and you store my info" Her (
): "okay"

Me: "Text me and I'll get you in contact with some women who've had your experience and can be supports. You will be a doctor. You're not alone. I do have to finish rounding though. It really is nice to meet you." Her (
