This same phenomenon is happening at similar rates in Saudi Arabia and Maghreb (particularly Algeria), and they’re all converting to Evangelical Protestantism. This phenomenon is under-studied and misunderstood, but I think the main reason (whilst not logical) is the https://twitter.com/akyolinenglish/status/1353013666199851009
sharp increase of religious violence done by Jihadi groups for the case of Maghreb (where we also see atheism and agnosticism becoming very visible, even in media) or official state violence and repression based on religion (the case of Iran and KSA)
This Tunisian political commentator (famous for his profane way of speaking) said 4 days on one of the most popular radio stations in the country that he is not an Arab and is an atheist and there are more likes than dislikes in the video.
This guy has been blaspheming Islam in really shocking ways in videos he makes (not in radio) and he still has a big following especially amongst young Tunisian.

Another example is Moroccan Evangelical TV host “Brother Rachid”, he also has a wide following and popularity,
he he has been on YouTube for a few years where he criticizes Islam and engages in apologetics. If these like/dislike rations indicate at least one thing it would be that the people who agree with him are not negligible.
