leon rose, despite all of his star-chasing desires, isn't gonna cough up rj and a bunch of other assets just to have spida in the situation his old client carmelo was in in NYC. it's been reported that the knicks, when talking about young stars to be in the market for, have (2/)
been taking that player's fit with rj into account because they see rj as a part of what they'd like to build here long-term - they value both his on court production/potential and the fact that he wants the challenge of righting this particular franchise's ship. it was also (3/)
reported that in regards to spida himself, they weren't super sure about his fit with barrett - it's since then been reported that they see barrett as a 3 so they likely think he can co-exist with spida and that would be the goal (pairing the two) if they were to make a deal (4/)
down the line. yes, leon would give up a ridiculous amount of assets for spida if the chance presented itself, i do believe that - i just don't think rj barrett will be the centerpiece of that deal nor would i continually assess him as a donovan trade-chip. (5/5)
