Dear #EconTwitter,
We need to talk about HOW discussions are led.
As promised, we evaluated the speaker times of the last event of @ForumNewEconomy.
These unequal results are only one indication of what needs to be considered for a balanced debate. (1/5)

We stopped speaking times for the participants of the discussion:
Gregory Mankiw: 32:24 (~ 35%)
@PeterBofinger: 20:10 (~ 30%)
@BachmannRudi: 19:43 (~ 20%)
@AnnaReisch1: 07:18 (~ 7%)

As the only female & youngest panelist, @AnnaReisch1 had less than 1/3 of the average speaking time the other discussants had.
Not because she did have less to say. But because not enough attention was given to prevent dominant speech behavior, mutual interruptions etc. (3/ 5)

What hits us harder still, is the aggressive tone we were met with by some discutants in the debate that followed. We're glad about content-related discussions with #EconTwitter. That's what we're here for. But we want to engage in these criticisms in a respectful way. (4/5)
We hope to continue this discussion on a substantive level and invite everyone who seriously considers our arguments.
