If you think Sikh female voices are not needed in academia, here is Exhibit A (1994 edition). Author claimed a paucity of research on women in Sikhism. She references 15 authors, of which only 5 focused on Sikhism. Yet, Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singhs’ book from 1993 was absent.
