The Kattupalli port received approval & began construction during the DMK Regime. Surprised to see questions posted by them now on the need of this port when chennai already has 2 ports. Total proposed area of expansion is 5238 Acres as per the report, Wire calls in 6111 acre master plan. Not sure where they got these information.

As per the proposal submitted for the revised master plan, the management has already proposed to spend a capital cost ₹2324 Crores for environmental management. And ₹120 Crores every year post project completion for maintenance.

The expansion project has complied with all the conditions set for obtaining clearance pending public hearing & mitigation, suddenly some fringe elements have made their way in as always.
