When I see a new flashy visual tech like Structure Flow or Jigsaw I don’t think of the visual I think of the data structure needed to make that visual happen. And then think how I would search and index that model ... why is this interesting? 1/
Because in these tools trying make corporate structures more structures more pretty is that they are also making them more discoverable. lots of the “naughty” stuff in journalist data driven investigations like the Panama + FinCen papers was corporate shell structure diagrams 2/
But it’s hard to search/AI tifs, powerpoint diagrams, visios etc from big tax consultancies and law firms. It’s quite hidden from key word searching. By digitising into these tools they are also making this stuff discoverable in an easier manner. 3/
Which is great for investigative types, for regulators, for knowledge seekers and some interesting compliance/kyc opportunities. Maybe also good for curbing creative accounting etc ... so the visual on these tools is just the cherry, the structuring of data in invaluable. 4/e
All I see now is can I search and index a thing in a way that makes sense in retrieval ...
