Melo started the 2006-07 season by playing some ridiculous basketball

This is what he did in the first 22 Games

32.7 PPG 5.8 RPG 4.4 APG 1.7 SPG
50.8 FG% 29.3 3p% 80.5 FT%

16 30 Point Games, Denver were 13-9 to start
Between 8th Nov and 2nd Dec 2006, Carmelo had this 13 Game Stretch

33.8 PPG 5.4 RPG 4.7 APG 2.2 SPG
53.5 FG% 29.6 3p% 83.8 FT%

Dropped 30+ in 12 of those 13 games, had 2 separate 6 game streaks of 30+ pts, scored 29 in the game he didn't hit 30

Denver went 10-3
However, on Dec 16 Carmelo would be involved in a brawl between the Knicks and Nuggets and it got him suspended for the next 15 Games
During Melo's suspension, Denver made a trade for Allen Iverson and would stay afloat going 7-8 in Melo's absence to stay above .500 at 20-17 and in the Playoffs spot when Melo returned
When Carmelo returned, he continued to play great averaging 27.6 PPG on 46% Shooting after the suspension

His scoring wasn't as crazy as it was in the first 22 games, but he had Iverson on his team now
On 5th Feb 2007, Carmelo had his first career triple double when he posted 31 pts 10 reb 10 ast against the Phoenix Suns
Melo would also get selected to his first All-Star game where he played well and dropped 20 Points on 10/15 Shooting being the 3rd leading scorer on the Western Conference team that won 153-132
Nuggets were struggling in early Melo/Iverson days though

They would fall to 35-36 by the end of March and would be in danger of missing the Playoffs

on 31 March this is how the standings looked

7 LAC 36-37
8 DEN 35-36
9 GSW 34-39
From that point, Melo would lead Denver to an 8 game win streak putting up 29.5 PPG on 48/39/85% Shooting Splits

Melo dropped 30 pts in 6 of the 8 games during this win streak

Denver would not only make the Playoffs but leap the Clippers and the Lakers to get a 6 seed
Melo would also win the Player of the Month award in April for leading Denver to clinching a Playoff berth
Melo would make the 3rd Team All-NBA for the 2nd straight season once the season ended
Melo finished 2nd in the league in PPG just behind Kobe and was tied 1st in FG% among players that averaged 25 or more Points Per Game (tied with Bron) that season
Melo didn't have any 50 point games, in fact he only had 1 40 point game (season high 42 pts)

However, his scoring was extremely consistent

He scored 30 or more in 34 of the 65 games that he played in and was 3rd in 30 pt games despite missing 17 games that season
Melo scored 20+ pts in 59 of the 65 games that he played in and had a 35 game streak of scoring 20+ Points between 3rd November 2006 and 14th February 2007
In the Regular Season wins, this is what Melo averaged

30.1 PPG 6.2 RPG 4.0 APG 1.4 SPG
49.7 FG% 32.9 3p% 82.6 FT%

He dropped 30 Points in 22 of his 37 RS wins
Melo's Nuggets would run into the experienced Spurs in the 1st Round of 2007 Playoffs and well it didn't go well for Denver as they lost in 5 to the eventual champions
Melo had a good series, but San Antonio were just too good for Denver

Melo's Averages vs Spurs
26.8 PPG 8.6 RPG 1.2 APG 1.0 SPG
48.0 FG% 50.0 3p% 79.5 FT%

Scored 25+ in all games except Game 5
Melo's best game of the series was in Game 1

He dropped 30/8 on 56/50/100% as Denver stunned San Antonio to take Game 1 on the road. It'd be their only win though
In Games 2, 3 and 4 Melo would drop 26/10, 28/12 and 29/6/3 but Denver would lose all 3.

His season would end after a Game 5 loss where he had his worst game of the series putting up 21/7
It was obviously frustrating for Melo to lose in the 1st Round again, but the individual season he had was definitely fantastic.

Finally made an All-Star team and was the 2nd leading scorer in the league while doing it on great efficiency
Following the 06-07 Season, Melo would participate in Fiba Americas for Team USA in the Summer and won Gold alongside LeBron and Kobe

Melo led his country in scoring with 21.2 PPG in the tournament
