These Republican reps are playing a game here trying to make a performative point. Members enjoy some exceptions to the District’s very strict gun laws. They are theatrically flouting the rules they absolutely know and have had repeatedly explained to them, to virtue signal to their base (basically performing as individualized versions of the bankrupt @NRA.) The Speaker should fine them and keep fining them until they comply.

And that needs to happen because if our elected representatives decide that like the former president, they don’t have to follow the rules that their constituents follow at airports, and at work everyday, then they are Lords and Dukes and oligarchs, not public servants.

These people work for us. They are public employees paid by us. Follow the rules or drain your bank account of our money.
