While it is true Ohio needs greater #COVIDvaccine supply from feds, our state processes for getting the vaccines we have into arms have been abysmal and poorly coordinated. Clearly, there are bottlenecks that need to be fixed ASAP. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2021/01/22/ohio-ranks-last-second-doses-covid-19-vaccines/6668670002/
In nearly every metric regarding vaccine administration, we are falling far behind our neighboring states. Sure, there may be some data lag to blame, but even data lags don’t account for clear performance gaps between Ohio and other states.

So, where are Ohio’s processes falling short? I’ll start w/ @OHdeptofhealth vaccine website. It is like searching for a needle in a haystack to find appointments & terrible for high-risk groups who have poor internet access and/or fluency.
This is low-hanging fruit, and we had plenty of time to get this website right. Good examples can be found in states like New York, West Virginia, & Mississippi (yep). Our current registration process has left local gov’t scrambling to fill the info gap. https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/cuyahoga-county-to-roll-out-211-phone-service-for-vaccines/article_8dcea31c-5cea-11eb-a902-53aa845cff96.html
There are plenty of other examples of the lack of transparency and good guidance being given to our local health departments and healthcare providers who are doing their best to get vaccines into arms under the circumstances. We can and should be doing so much better.
