Good afternoon the panel of judges, Mr chairman, accurate time keepers, co-debaters, ladies & gentlemen!

My name is ogbeni Oluwatosin. I'm here today to support the motion that in the couple of months & years to come, the NHS UK should be getting set for more scarcity of nurses.
To set the ball rolling, the president of the United states of America, President Joe Biden had reversed the travel ban placed on Africans by the immediate past administration, giving room for more African Nurses to troop into the country in their numbers. A perfect development!
As at 31 March 2018, 20.5% (71,648) of the 348,678 nurses, midwives and health visitors
in NHS trusts were from a BME background.
More juicy is the fact that the English language requirements for getting a job in the USA is lesser as compared to that of the UK.
For instance, nurses only need an IELTS score of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and 7.5 in speaking for US immigration.
Furthermore, nurses Earn better in US. On an average, a nurse makes a whopping sum of $73,550 per annum while some states even pay higher. For instance, California pays as high as $102, 700 per annum.
An average nurse's salary in the UK is between £33,000 and £35,000. (RCN 2021)
For a band 5 nurse it is even lesser, about £24,907 per annum.
Finally, the USA Nursing job offers come with a permanent residency, in the UK it is different. You need to have lived there for atleast 5years before applying for a permanent residency.
With this little points of mine, I believe I've been able to convince and not to confuse you that, in the next couple of months and years to come, if care isn't taken, the NHS UK maybe heading towards more of scarcity of nursing care professionals.

Thank you
