When we in #MedievalTwitter talk about the University of Leicester's decision to cut medieval studies and preserve race/gender/sexuality courses, we need to be REALLY careful about it, because the UK right-wing is framing this issue as "woke" attacks on "traditional lit."
There has to be a way for medievalists to resist calls to cut medieval studies while still supporting courses on race/gender/sexuality.

This is being framed as the "fault" of people who work on race/gender/sexuality, and I don't see medievalists pushing back on that narrative.
I also think that has to go beyond arguing that medieval English studies *does* race/gender/sexuality. We need to commit to expanding the curriculum.
