Protecting Your Business During Twitter Purges for SWers (Thread:)

This is going to be thrown together quickly with an eye to getting this info out this morning and into as many workers' hands as possible so we can weather the potential storm.
2/ If at all possible read through this this morning and take as many steps as you have the time and energy to do.

1. Educate yourself on the matter. Read through this fantastic article written by my friend, Ana. https://twitter.com/acvalens/status/1352733573619585024?s=20
3/ After reading, retweet from the source ( @acvalens) to pass this valuable info along to other workers.

2. Take a deep breath and understand that similar things have happened before. Not exactly like this, but similar. Our industry, while under attack, will not disappear.
4/ We will adapt and continue to thrive, I promise you. It's all going to be okay.

3. First head to your profile and take a look at your verbiage. Remove any language that could be considered inflammatory with less inflammatory words as well as any hashtags that could
5/ draw negative attention. #GFE #date[your city], etc. I know you're worried that this will impact your business. This is temporary, I promise.

4. If you have a website linked, replace it with your newsletter sign up link or a link to your personal website.
6/ I would suggest removing your linktree URL temporarily. Linktree is often a red flag to AI. Especially if you have links within it that are adult related.

5. Make a tweet modeled after this brilliant one by @LadyJaneBubbles: https://twitter.com/LadyJaneBubbles/status/1352969181482815489?s=20
7/ and pin it to your profile now. Let your Twitter fanbase know what's happening and where they can find you if your disappear from Twitter.

6. Scroll through your profile. Take down anything explicit. Including video, gif, and image. Screenshot these tweets before you do.
8/ That way, you can bring them back in safer times. If you don't have copies of these files (the video, etc.) backed up, do so now and save them in a safe place. You don't want to lose your content.

7. Run through your tweets and screenshot your favorites and the best engaged.
9/ Even if they are not explicit. Don't need to remove them but if you are deleted, you will lose that content as well. Put these in an album on your phone so you can repost that content to your next account.

8. Check for tweets with hashtags. #GFE, #date{your city), o
10/or any hashtags that are explicit. Screenshot and remove these tweets.

9. Check your retweets of other accounts. Unretweet anything explicit.

10. Retweet your pinned tweet (letting clients and colleagues know where to find you) several times in the next few days.
11/ That way you are maximizing your chance of them seeing it.

11. Create a SFW backup Twitter. DO NOT CALL IT @[your name]backup. Create a tweet that reads similar to this:

"Don't forget to follow me on my new SFW account!" Retweet several times in the next few days.
12/ 12. Look at your social media plan (If you have one) for the next few weeks. Make changes to your plan to keep your content as within the bounds of these new stricter guidelines as possible.

13. If you haven't already, start a newsletter and begin collecting email addresses
13/ NOW. Setting that up is not within the scope of this quick guide, but can be done for free and/or cheap and doesn't take much time. @AmberlyPSO has resources on her site about how, and which newsletter clients are adult-friendly.
14/ 14. Don't panic. I promise you, these types of things happen regularly. We will survive and it's all going to be okay.

15. After this storm has passed, make an appointment with yourself to crisis-proof your business for the future, in case a platform goes away.
15/ I promise to write more about that in another thread.

16. Understand that while taking down some tweets and links may very temporarily impact your business, it may very well allow you to remain in the twitter marketplace. Don't fret. We're thinking long term here.
You've got this, okay? You're going to get through this.

Pass this along to anyone who may need it. If anyone has any tips I missed, please let me know and I'll add them to the thread.
ADDITIONAL TIP I FORGOT TO ADD: If you are a FSSW, consider temporarily removing your P number (P411) from your profile verbiage. I'm not sure if having this number there will mark you for deletion but taking it down for awhile may be worth it.
