1. Italian anti-mafia police wiretaps published by ORA News indicate that the Italian mob is involved in #Tirana's massive construction wave currently taking place. They also indicate the people who issue permits expect 20% of investment as a bribe. Mayor & PM mentioned on tape.
2. The only reaction that has come so far is from #Tirana Mayor #ErionVeliaj, who joked about the serious accusations, saying they will make him Escobar's nephew next. Veliaj promised zero high-rise construction in Tirana when elected. Instead massive construction took place.
3. Mob and money laundering involvement have long been suspected for #Tirana's massive construction and high prices at a time when hard working honest citizens cannot afford the artificial high prices created by the corruption and money laundering. The wire taps give new glimpse.
4. My opinion-This latest scandal to rock the Socialist government is the one that will tell whether the people of #Albania have surrendered to the mob, or whether they will vote it out. EU&US also need to decide whether Rama stabilocracy is worth the death of Albanian democracy.

6. #ErionVeliaj has issued an official response saying he doesn't need explain anything about the accusations of mob ties to construction permits because the municipal paperwork is in order & transparent. He says he will sue for defamation an opposition representative instead.
