To discuss the highest tiers in meditation, spiritual experiences, you can't do it without discussing the concept of Sunn Samaadh.
Let's do some Khoj of the Gurbani for this.
Outside useless, inside important: the immemorial concept of what you seek outside is within, so many proverbs about looking within, lets see how Gurbani puts it.
Ang 102

Everything is within, if you search outside you are deluded, Guru Arjan Dev Ji has written it quite clearly.
Look within, what? how?

There has been a lot of talk of giving up ego, about reaching a high avastha/state, in Gurbani we discuss this deeply meditative state as Sunn Samaadh, what happens here?
Ang 894
We have already reached the realm of unbelievable, who wouldn’t want this state if this is available to us, everyone at best talks about faith, here there are conversations, discussions with the One. Since this cave is inside, we don’t have to look outside.
At the level of Sunn Samadhi there are no notions, no ego, silence not just verbal but thoughts, concepts, dualities, the state of the mind is absolute absorption. This is the state of the fully realized.
Sunn is the primal void, source of everything, including platonic.
Ang 265
The Mind, can reach there.
The Mind can reach here.

Here Bhagat Namdev discusses the state
This is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakshi_(Witness) bhaav.
Ang 973
And this is from Bhagat Kabeer Ji,
Everyone is talking about the concept of Sunn Samaadh. Clearly something important, within everyone, accessible for the mind.
Ang 1103
There is Dasam Dwaar, there are Anhad Shabads(Sehaj Dhun, Naadh, Naam, Shabd Guru) and there is Sunn Samaadh, Sahaj. We are told to reach here. If these are clear, then aim should always be to experience these, they are practical meditative states.
Gurmukhs of earlier era derived their power from the Bani via such meditative practices, get protection against Maya, Panj Chor, gain your Amrit the real food of the mind.
Basic steps:
Notice the mind
-> do naam jaap until you get Anhad Shabads
-> listen intently, follow the shabads
-> practice everyday, train concentration (I'm here)
-> reach Sunn Samaadh.
We don't have to intellectually understand all this, it is more of an experiential state, the sleeping state is a bit like that, you go into Sunn but at lower levels, these are the deeper states while meditation your mind has energy and stay's awake inside Sunn.
