[thread] FTC contract as 2009

1) Based on FTC's new rules in 2009, the contract must be in a range of max 7 years. So, anyone who debuts before 2009 should adjust their contract to be 7 years span from their debut years. (I give you an example previously from May post)
2) After the first contract (7 years or so-called 'rookie contract') finished, the company only allowed to offer 3 years of the prolonged new contract. Or, both parties (the artist and the company) could set their own time span by a discussion in the span of 3-5 years.
It depends on both agreements on their new contract clauses (being upper hand or not) and is supervised by the law of course.

3) The newest contract (after renewal) may be proposed even before the first contract (of 7 years) is finished in which the artist's first contract -c
c- still available till the end of the contract and will add more years to the new contract.

4) To be considered when a group will renew its contract or not is about how the group and individual member has the right to ask some new agreement clauses with the company.
To think that the group already in 7 years, ups and downs are enough to be a reason for them to discuss their hard work and recognition with proposing new clauses (ofc the better one). For example that happened with SHINee in their 'upper hand' contract.
So, it may come to your mind if some groups didn't agree (not on the same page of discussion) with the company in some new clauses and ofc, there must be a reason that made them renew or not.

5) Talking about the boy group contract that specially has the enlistment, -c
c- it'll freeze till the enlistment finish and continue till the end of the contract years. To be informed, both idol group member has 2 kinds of contract: group and individual contract. The difference is the sharing ratio when one of the members is in the army.
To consider again, some of the members also have individual work offers that manage by the company (bring the group name of or not) but they will have different agreement clauses in their individual contract.
You misunderstood the '7 years jinx' right? LOL

'7 years jinx' refers to the idol's first contract with the company in which comes to an end and directly to face 2 choices, renew or not. The 'jinx' is said about group contract and activities continuation, not to the disbandment.
Why people misunderstand between '7 years jinx' to 'disbandment'?

It's because mostly group which did not renew the contract with the company and move to another company so their group activity mostly stop (have a hard managing time together) indirectly.
It may raise another concern to a group with members who come from a different company to continue their activity because of the new contract from the recent company since the group name (brand/trademark/IP) will bring another issue to be considered.
Let's take a look at BEAST (debut 2009) in which not renew with Cube (2016) and have its own label with the new brand name.

It's different with disbandment in which the group didn't renew the contract with the company and announces to stop their activity from the time being c-
-c like Gugudan (the company has the IP anyway). For the brand name/ trademark/ IP/ copyrights or works that already registered by the company, it has a time span of about 10 years till the time to re-register after the expiration.
When the group didn't renew the contract with the company, the company as the one who has the trademark (made/registered) has the right to use it till the expiration time. Many things like the albums, merch, copyrights, recording, or raw materials that need to be discussed -c
c- when the group wants to use it after they're not a part of the company anymore. In this case, the royalty talks in both parties.

If you find better narration than this, feel free to share it with people around you. There're many things you can find if you search wisely.
