okay. we need to talk. there is a HUGE problem among white women feminists, and white women "allies" in general. rather than using our voices and places of privilege to help people- many of them are using it to continue to suppress the voices of BIPOC. they stand up for women,
but only white women. it is outrageous and sickening. i am not innocent of this either. i dont speak up enough. if you are not actively speaking up for BIPOC when you have the opportunity to, you are contributing to the problem. if this is you, i hope you are uncomfortable,
i hope you feel called out. that is what i am doing. calling you out. it makes me uncomfortable to see my own shortcomings, to see where i am failing, especially on issues of race. but it is necessary if you want to become a better person. to be silent is to be complacent.
feminism is not empowering if it doesn't include all women. that includes WOC and trans women, and sex workers, and women that you dont like. im tired of seeing performative feminism. it only further divides women. please listen to BIPOC women on this topic, theyve been speaking
they've been trying to tell us that we arent helping and most of us arent listening. because it feels better not to confront our privilege, or our internalized racism and misogyny. but if you arent willing to do that, then you aren't an ally.
i hope this all makes sense, if i said anything wrong or out of line, please correct me
also this video talks about white feminism, even though was made a while ago (i think you should watch ALL of Tee's videos but this one specifically is really good)
